The Sum is a Cabernet based blended red wine created by Tuck Beckstoffer whose family is widely considered to be the most famous grape growing family in the Napa Valley.

This amazingly well endowed profoundly rich red wine must be smelled and tasted to be believed. The color is a rich, deep purple garnet and gives but a small hint as to what’s inside. The nose gives off soaring and wonderfully focused aromas of ripe stone fruit, vanilla, cherries, cedar cigar box, blackberries and cinnamon. In the mouth, there are layers upon layers of broad, sweet opulent fruit balanced by firm tannins, great acidity and oak.

This wine truly showcases the potential of blending and is a must have.

The 2011 vintage of The Sum is dense and plum colored with sweet exotic aromas of barbeque smoke, cloves, espresso, licorice and graphite. Exuberant and juicy, this wine has a certain raciness and seamlessness that is hard to deny. Only a finish that lingers on the palate for minutes interrupts layer upon layer of dark focused fruit. A hedonist’s dream, come true.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points & "Editor's Choice" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2007 vintage):
"Rich and dramatic, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Sirah offers smooth, unctuous flavors of cherries, black raspberries, chocolate and pepper. It’s a seductively appealing wine, with thick, refined tannins and a dry finish. Should gain in the bottle over the next 4–6 years. Great price for the quality." — S.H. (4/1/2010)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2007 vintage):
"The real star, and a great bargain, is the 2007 The Sum – The Seventy-Five Wine Company. This is an absolute steal when it comes to high-class wine. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, and 10% Petite Sirah, there are 5,200 cases of this wine, which is truly outstanding and an amazing value. Sweet blue and black fruits, camphor, and spice box all jump from the glass of this dense, medium to full-bodied, juicy, supple wine, which is a hedonist’s dream come true. This is a beauty to drink over the next 4-5 years. California and Napa Valley need wines like this. Don’t dare pass it by!" - Robert Parker (Dec 2009)
