Enjoy one of Northern Italy’s most popular wines. This is a lush, medium to full-bodied wine, rich with bright raspberry and cherry aromas. The intense flavors of cherry and spice come together in a balanced wine that is a perfect complement to meats, pasta and pizza! It is a great everyday wine!

Deep ruby red in colour with a slight orange edge. Harmonious, well-balanced aroma, a pleasant blend of floral, fruity and soft spicy scents, with a finish of rose, violet and vanilla. Fresh, lively bouquet, with harmonious tannins and alcohol and balanced acidity. Soft, elegant and full-bodied with a very long aftertaste. Redolent of freshly macerated red berries, raspberry and redcurrant. Goes well with robust roasts and hard, well-aged cheeses.
Serving temperature: 17°C.

95 Points - Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media:
"The 2009 Barolo Le Coste is even better than the San Giuseppe. Big, rich, and explosive, the 2009 flows across the palate with tons of depth and pure power. Pine, menthol, licorice, leather and smoke all add complexity on the huge, voluptuous finish. The 2009 is at once dense but also quite classic. There is so much to look forward to here." (Oct 2013)

The 2010 vintage has a lively purple color of moderate depth and youthful garnet hues. The aroma’s leading actors are black currants and cedar with supporting roles provided by graphite and mint. A bouquet originating from two years of aging in deeply toasted French oak barrels provides a background of dark chocolate for the dense black fruits. Bright flavors of black cherry, juniper, and cassis are delivered on a lean texture that makes a smooth transition to a seamless finish that contains nuances of smoked wood and chalky dust. The tradition of balancing just the right amount tannins with the wine’s flavor and depth continues. The judges at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition liked this wine and awarded it a gold medal in January 2014.

From 1990 to 1996 I had the pleasure of making the wines for the J. Lohr Winery in San Jose. At this time Jerry Lohr was in the midst of moving his red wine-grape production from Monterey to Paso Robles. While waiting for his young vineyards to come into production he purchased grapes from throughout the region and I had the opportunity to explore the flavors this appellation had to offer. During these six seasons the hill top vineyard owned and farmed by Connie Klucker became my favorite. The wines we produced from her vineyard had a distinctive blueberry character and soft silky tannins and were always among the top rated wines of the vintage. Given this, it was only natural that when I wanted to add a Cabernet Sauvignon to our offerings here at Jeff Runquist Wines that I contact Connie. She graciously agreed to provide us with five tons of her fruit in 2000 and we have been producing the Colina Poca Cabernet Sauvignon ever since.
