94 Points #58 Top 100 of 2017 Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A beautiful wine, with dark fig, warm boysenberry reduction and alluring creamed raspberry flavors streaming forth, accented by graphite, black tea and pastis. There's a healthy dose of singed apple wood through the finish, but it's well-embedded as everything pulls together. Best from 2020 through 2040. 5,500 cases made." -JM (Nov 2017)

94 Points - Antonio Galloni:
"The 2014 Chardonnay is one of the most distinctive wines being made in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Graphite, smoke, peach, mint and honey give the 2014 much of its exotic flair. Dramatic in both its flavors and phenolic intensity, the 2014 is absolutely gorgeous. The aromatics are slightly reductive, so I would give the 2014 a good bit of air. There is no question the 2014, is a stunning wine, although it shows the more extroverted, flamboyant side of what is possible in the Santa Cruz Mountains." - Antonio Galloni (June 2016)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Dark red cherry and a host of mineral/soil inflected notes give the 2015 Pinot Noir Widdoes much of its distinctive personality. Brooding and intense, but with striking mid-palate intensity, the 2015 is remarkably expressive for a wine that is just bottled a few weeks before this tasting. These Martini clone Pinot vines give the Widdoes its exotic aromatic presence and distinctive personality. Of all the Capiaux Pinots, this is the wine I personally admire the most."

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Lastly, from another Santa Lucia vineyard, the 2014 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard displays sexy floral notes intermixed with blueberry, black raspberry and cherry notes, some forest floor, and again, that floral component that seems to come from some of these vineyards in the windswept Santa Lucia Highlands. This medium to full-bodied wine should drink nicely for 4-5 years, possibly longer." - RP (Dec 21st 2015)

"Fantastically complex aromas of spices, dried flowers and plums follow through to a full body, integrated and polished tannins and a superb finish. This is a 2012 Brunello with it all. Drink in 2018." - (Tuesday, May 2, 2017)

96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Cabernet Franc Howell Mountain has a very deep purple-black color, revealing a drop dead gorgeous perfume of red roses, violets and black tea over a core of kirsch, red currants and black raspberries, with wafts of cinnamon stick and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, very finely textured and refreshing in the mouth, it offers wonderful perfumed red fruit layers and a long, mineral-laced finish. 522 cases produced." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Dec 2017)

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2014 vintage):
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is 75.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged in 89% new French oak. The wine displays the great fruit that is possible from these two sites owned by the Jacksons. It has an opaque purple color, a big, sweet kiss of crème de cassis and blackberry with a touch of lead pencil shavings, vanilla and incense. It is full-bodied and dense, with moderately high tannins but beautiful sweetness and fruit. Drink it over the next 25-30 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (28th Oct 2016)

93 Points & #88 Top 100 Wines of 2018 - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This starts out with plenty of cherry, plum and orange peel flavors, offset by iron, eucalyptus and tobacco accents. The finish is rustic, with the tannins flexing their muscles, yet this comes together in the end. A wine for the long haul. Best from 2023 through 2040. 2,500 cases made." - BS (Dec 2018)

TASTING NOTE
A core of deep brick red fading to russet on the rim. A beautifully mature and complex nose, full of evocative, subtle nuances. Aromas of plum, fig and raisin blend with a mellow redolence of marzipan and butterscotch. Hints of cigar box, cedarwood and leather add an exotic dimension to the nose. The wine is seductively round and smooth with discreet, beautifully integrated tannins adding an attractive dryness and grip. The wine is full of rich, fruit cake flavors with some fresh plum character emerging on the long finish.
