About the Wine:
Fruit comes from a vineyard that sits high above and slightly southwest of the village with southeastern exposures, warm days and cool nights. Vines average 55-years-old from rocky limestone and gravel soil. Fruit is typically harvested a week later than La Combe due to its southern exposure. The wine spends about 11 months in barrel before bottling.

94 Points #58 Top 100 of 2017 Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A beautiful wine, with dark fig, warm boysenberry reduction and alluring creamed raspberry flavors streaming forth, accented by graphite, black tea and pastis. There's a healthy dose of singed apple wood through the finish, but it's well-embedded as everything pulls together. Best from 2020 through 2040. 5,500 cases made." -JM (Nov 2017)

"Inviting, with a whiff of macadamia nut out front, followed by heather, yellow apple, anise and Cavaillon melon flavors. A light kiss of brioche on the finish is deftly done. Clairette, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc. Drink now through 2022. 900 cases made." – JM (Nov 15, 2018)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
“Always a light, ethereal style of wine, this is also very fresh and still young. It will age with its taut minerality from the Chardonnay in the blend. A softer background will become toasty over the next few years. The vintage date on this bottle is 200 years after the foundation of this producer. Drink from 2021.” - RV (Dec 2018)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2012 vintage):
"The best La Bernardine I can recall, this is a wonderfully full-bodied yet elegant rendering of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Garrigue and floral notes make a healthy impression on the nose, while the expansive herb and black cherry flavors linger on the silky finish. Drink now–2025." -Joe Czerwinski (12/31/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 vintage):
"The 2013 Bourgogne Chardonnay has a tightly-wound bouquet, quite tensile for a generic white Burgundy, with attractive undergrowth aromas. The palate has a saline touch on the entry, crisp acidity, with a touch of white peach and citrus lemon on the finish.

Visiting Francois Carillon on a chilly, windy Monday evening, it was somewhat a relief to step inside his warm barrel cellar full of newborn 2014s. François told me that he cropped the 2013 vintage September 26 to October 4. I enthused about his roster of 2013s that I feel show more drive and ambition than when I tasted the 2012s from barrel a year ago. In particular, his Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru was spectacular, one of the best of several I have encountered from barrel. Given the reasonable prices for the wines, many of these come recommended." - Neal Martin (Dec 2014)

93 & Highly Recommended - Wine Spectator Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"A taut, austere style, with a structure like a steel spring, waiting to release the cherry, currant and mineral flavors. Shows fine purity and elegance, with a long, juicy aftertaste that echoes the cherry and mineral. Best from 2019 through 2035. 264 cases imported." Ð BS (May 31, 2017)
