95 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"While the color of this wine is light, the intensity and the structure are not. It comes from 30-year-old vines, planted densely that gives the wine huge concentration. It is firm full of tannins that lie over the ripe fruit. As it develops, this wine will be sumptuous, ripe and impressive. Wait until 2023." - Roger Voss (12/31/2016)

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Antonio Galloni:

"The 2007 Barbaresco Sori Paitin Vecchie Vigne bursts onto the palate with explosive fruit and tons of depth. It is a rich opulent Barbaresco, but there appears to be plenty of underlying structure. Crushed flowers, spices, licorice, anise and tar are some of the notes that wrap around the intense, plush finish. Today the 2007 shows the exuberance of the year, but with further bottle age the more subtle aspects of the wine will emerge." - Antonio Galloni (October 2011)

93 Points - Stephen Tanzer:
"(bottled in August of 2011): Healthy medium red. Lovely high-pitched aromas of red cherry, rose petal, mint, minerals and blood orange make the 2008 version seem a bit flat on the nose. Suave, rich and generous but not thick, with terrific intensity and noteworthy complexity to its flavors of red fruits, spices, mint, earth and game. Nicely delineated wine thanks to harmonious acidity. Finishes with serious but ripe tannins that reach the incisors and a lingering spice character. (The tasting notes I offered on this wine two years ago suggested it was already in bottle, which of course was not the case. I liked the wine then, and it has turned out very well.)" - Stephen Tanzer (November 2011)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
Starts out rich and round, boasting cherry and currant flavors, then firms up as more spice and eucalyptus notes show. The tannins offer grip as this cruises to a long finish. Balances power and elegance. Best from 2014 through 2028. 333 cases made." - BS (Apr 30, 2012)

)93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A deft but not invisible application of wood frames overtly spicy and ripe aromas of both red and dark currants along with a lovely floral hint. There is a seductive mouth feel to the notably plush medium weight plus flavors that possess plenty of sappy extract that does a fine job of buffering the firm tannic spine on the balanced and relatively powerful finish. While this beautiful effort will definitely require the better part of 12 to 15 years to be completely ready it should be approachable after only 7 or 8." - (Apr 15, 2016)

"Polished, focused, multilayered and compelling, with coffee-accented black cherry and floral flavors, hining at apricot as the finish persists. Dances deftly."

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"From a two-acre parcel of vines planted in 1950, this is a finely perfumed, rich wine. It has generous red fruits and an equally opulent ripe character. The tannins are there—a dry layer that is supporting the spice—as is a firm solid texture. Drink this wine (which is still developing) from 2019." - Roger Voss (12/31/2016)

90 Points & Editors’ Choice - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Quite a steal of a deal for a widely available wine, this shows cinnamon, red cherry, ripe cranberry, light tobacco and a touch of leather on the rustic nose. Once sipped, the mouthfeel is soft, offering flavors of cranberry and red cherry that are spiced by thyme, bay leaf and more cinnamon." - Matt Kettmann (8/1/2016)

"Fresh and fragrant, this delivers aromas of ripe orchard fruits and nuts, with a whiff of yellow wild flowers. The linear palate offers crisp pear, apple and lightly toasted almond alongside brisk acidity and a firm, refined perlage. It closes on a note of fresh peach and chopped herbs." - Kerin OÕKeefe (12/1/2015)

97 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Hands down beautiful, The 2013 Cepparello is a creation of stunning elegance and balance. A pure expression of Sangiovese, this wine undergoes a sophisticated oak regime that sees ageing in various barrel sizes and barrique of various ages. It lives 18 months of its life in French and 3% American oak before being released. This vintage (that is cooler compared to 2012 and 2011) delivers an exceptionally soft and mellow bouquet with slightly sweet sensations of ripe cherry and fragrant blue flower. Soft tones of spice and cinnamon bring up the rear. The wine is medium to full in terms of body weight, and the finish is driven by cool tones of balsam and menthol herb. The 2013 Cepparello is one of my favorite wines of the vintage." - Monica Larner (30th Dec 2016)

"Wonderful aromas of blackberries, blueberries and bramble berries. Full-bodied, with ripe tannins and wonderful fruit. There is really a gourmand style to it. So delicious. Fruity and velvety. So much flavor. Why wait? But will improve for years." - (March 2, 2012)

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"A deep, intense color leads to aromas of black fruits, sweet tannins and spices. Flavors of cranberries, black plums and dark cherries combine with layers of dry wood tannins into a wine that is still just emerging from its chrysalis. It has great, ripe, jammy Merlot flavors alongside the spice of the Cabernet Franc. Give this wine 10 years." - Roger Voss (4/1/2005)
