Tasting Notes:
Ò2016 was our hottest year yet. There was almost no winter, yet not really any spring either. It was a long mild period without enough rain, and almost no sunshine. Summer was then hotter than ever. Really low yields, but with high acidity levels, and fresh fruit characteristics.Ó -Carrie Sumner

90 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media (2014 Vintage):
"The 2014 Moscato d'Asti Sourgal is a true reference-point for what Moscato can be. Chablis-like in its energy, the Sourgal exudes precision and classiness throughout. White peach, orchard fruit and flowers abound in this vivid, beautifully delineated Moscato from Stefano Perrone."-- Antonio Galloni (Dec 2015)

About This Wine:
Pale gold hue. On the nose, the wine delivers a fine aromatic expression of ripe fruit and white flowers and is very elegant and long-lingering on the palate. Lovely balance of freshness, suppleness, minerality and fruit.

Grape native to France but which has spread to Friuli in an excellent way. The bunch is medium-small. The wine: light golden yellow color. Bouquet of great personality: hints of sage and pepper. The taste is dry without harshness, lively and rich. It has excellent aging potential and is at its best with fish dishes.

Notes from the Winemaker:

It is a vine that occupies a position of great prestige in the viticulture of the Collio. Its origins are somewhat uncertain and confused: it would seem that it was introduced in Italy by the Venetians. Its cluster size is above average and has a cylindrical shape. The wine: the color is light yellow, lively and bright. The aroma: vinous with a bouquet that expresses the typical primary aroma of the grape with suggestions of green pepper. The taste is dry but without violence and has an excellent ability to age. It should be served on soups, on vegetable pies and on fish.

Notes from the Winemaker:

VIS UVAE, from the Latin the Force of Grapes, to underline the force that the grape has, that is the Nature, to make a wine strong and complex, something that the hand of man alone determines it in a relative way. The effect of a week of persistence of the purplish-colored peels of Pinot Grigio in contact with the must, the so-called maceration, gives the must and then the wine those coppery notes that distinguish it from other wines. Originally these were the features that Pinot Grigio had, but then with the advent of new winemaking techniques, it was preferred to vinify it in white. Whether this was good or bad is not for us to judge, but certainly the result is different, both from an olfactory and a gustatory point of view.
