94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Dense and muscular, yet graceful, this red balances ripe blackberry and cassis flavors with savory black olive, bitter chocolate and mineral notes. The firm tannins are well-integrated, and lively acidity keeps this fresh through the spicy and floral finish. Drink now through 2028. 420 cases made." - TM (Jul 2017)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The current vintage for the crianza is 2012. The 2012 Crianza, from a dry vintage, resulted much fresher than expected, fresher than 2009 and 2011 in fact. The vines are dry-farmed and were planted some 22 years ago, and you might say they have matured by now. The approximate mixture of grapes in their vineyards is mostly Tempranillo with some 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Malbec, and it's more or less the blend in this wine. The Cabernet works well, providing finesse and some acidity to the Tempranillo. Merlot does not work that well, and they are regrafting it to Cabernet and Malbec, so in future vintages there will be less of it. The wine matured in 20% new French oak barrels for some 20 months. There are no traces of the barriques and the nose took me to the Riberas of yesteryear, with some subtle rusticity; it's ripe without excess and there's good balance between fruit, spices and perhaps something earthy. The palate is extremely balanced, medium-bodied with very fine tannins, tasty, approachable and long. This could very well be the best crianza ever produced at Monasterio. This has to be one of the bargains of the vintage in Ribera, given the quality it delivers. 175,000 bottles produced." - Luis Gutierrez (Oct 2015)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 vintage):
"The 2013 Creta Roble, is also a custom cuvée from importer Eric Solomon. Made from 60-plus-year-old vines from an area of Ribera del Duera known as La Horra (Pingus and Aalto emerged from this area as well). This expansive, savory, complex, deep ruby/purple red wine shows notes of new saddle leather, black and red currants, has a savory, medium-bodied expansive mouthfeel, with loads of black fruits, licorice, subtle smoke and earth. This is a lovely, sexy, opulent style of wine to drink over the next 4-5 years." - Robert Parker (Jul 2015)

This is a fruity wine, intense, and concentrated, with remarkable nuances of ripe fruit and mocha. It is a complex wine, with a long and soft finish. This is the ideal accompaniment to red meat and matured cheese. Best served between 16 degrees and 18 degrees Celsius.

91 Points -Steven Tanzer's International Wine Cellars:
"(80% tempranillo, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 5% merlot, aged for 17 months in French oak): Deep ruby. Ripe, heady aromas of candied plum, blackberry and potpourri. Rich and fleshy in the mouth, with lively acidity lifting the creamy dark berry and rose pastille flavors. Shows impressive depth and concentration, finishing with a suave sweetness and gentle, harmonious tannins." -Josh Reynolds (Sept 2012)

"Vivid ruby. High-pitched black raspberry and spice aromas are complicated by notes of dried rose and mocha. Very fresh and focused, offering tangy dark berry and cherry flavors and showing no rough edges. Offers excellent clarity and finishes with refreshing cut and spicy persistence." - Josh Raynolds (Nov/Dec '10)

96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Neal Martin had already tasted the 2005 Único in 2012, before I joined The Wine Advocate, but then they released 2007 and 2008 before and the 2005 has been kept until now, as they thought the vintage required some more time in bottle. It's mostly Tempranillo with some 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and aged for almost six years in 225-liter French and American oak barrels and 20,000-liter oak vats. The extra time in bottle has helped the wine to develop its bouquet, and it feels very aromatic and open, with the classical Vega Sicilia perfume of yesteryear, earthy, leafy and spicy, even if they wine was kept because of its power. It's still powerful, but at the same time it's elegant and has a polished mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins. 93,545 bottles, 2,391 magnums, 146 double magnums and six imperials produced. It was bottled in June 2011. Next year they will release the 2006, and the following vintage to be released in 2019, will be 2009. Further than that they don't know, as the only newer vintage in bottle today is 2010 and they are about to bottle 2011 now." Luis Gutiérrez (28th Feb 2017)

91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Bright violet color. Vibrant black and blue fruit and violet pastille scents are complicated by licorice and smoky minerals. Juicy, focused and emphatically spicy on the palate, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Closes minerally and very long, with silky tannins building slowly and adding gentle grip. This fresh, nervy wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in used French oak barrels for ten months." - Josh Raynolds (Jan 2016)

94 Points & Editor's Choice & "4th in Top 100 Best Wines List 2011" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"A fine and intricate heavyweight that blends power and ripeness with complexity and class. Quality leather, spice, toast and dark berry aromas set up a structured, grippy palate with generous black fruit flavors, tobacco notes and chewy tannins. Long, sweet and rewarding on the finish. Drink now through 2016." —M.S. (12/15/2011)
