Notes from the Winemaker:
The wine is an intense and deep ruby red in color. The aromas are complex with notes of ripe black berry fruit which then give way to nuances of liquorice and spicy oak notes as well. The wine is supple and enveloping on the palate and with good length. The finish and aftertaste, dominated by ripe black berry fruit, are accompanied by light notes of coffee and dark chocolate.

Dark ruby red, the aromas are intense and characteristic, recalling ripe fruit and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, generous, warm and offers a persistent finish. The wine is fermented a second time on the lees of the dried grapes used to produce Amarone. This enhances its body, color and alcohol content and makes it more suitable for the long aging in barrels (16 months), which is followed by a further 6 months in bottle before release.

After harvest, carefully selected bunches of grapes are put into small trays where they are left to dry for three months. This concentrates the flavors of the wine. It offers very complex aromas, balanced between ripe fruit and spice, while on the palate, it is a very full-bodied wine, spicy and well-balanced between softness, austerity and richness. The wine is aged 30 months in big Slavonian oak barrels then an additional 6 months in bottle before release.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a beautiful, “international” rendition that shows the soft and supple side of Amarone with loads of ripe fruit sweetness. You don’t find the thorny notes of oxidation you sometimes get with Amarone. This expression opens with an inky, impenetrable appearance and shows lingering notes of exotic spice, smoked bacon, grilled herb and blackberry preserves. Drink 2015-2025." - Monica Larner (Oct 2013)
