Notes from the Winemaker:
Cotes du Rhone Rouge: The standard bearer of the domaine is the Côtes du Rhône Rouge produced from the younger (but not young) vines (average 35 years old) of the estate. This wine is 100% Grenache and produces a classically spicy, full-bodied wine that speaks clearly of the “garrigue” of the region. The grapes are destemmed before the fermentation and the cuvaison is on the order of three weeks duration. The wine is bottled without filtration after twenty to twenty-four months of “elevage”. The Manarine Cotes du Rhone is our essential wine in this category. We now purchase 15,000 bottles per annum.

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"One of the best rosés is Guigal's 2014 Cotes du Rhone Rose, which checks in as a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. Sporting a lighter raspberry color (this cuvee normally has a slightly darker color), it gives up lots of sweet cherry, strawberry, honeysuckle and Provencal herb characteristics to go with a medium-bodied, rounded, beautifully supple and textured feel on the palate. This is a classic Cotes du Rhone that has both freshness and texture. Drink it over the coming 12-16 months." - Jeb Dunnuck (Jun 2015)

"Guigal is one of those firms that seems to handle whites, reds and rosés with equal aplomb. This white has a fair dose of Viognier, which gives it a floral, apricotty nose, a rich, creamy palate and a spicy, gingery finish. Drink now." - Joe Czerwinski (9/1/2016)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Starting with the 2012s and the Famille Perrin releases, the value priced 2012 Famille Perrin Cotes Du Rhone Blanc Reserve is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier. Fresh and pure, with salty minerality giving lift to notions of white peach, tropical fruit, licorice and floral notes, this medium-bodied, supple and rounded effort has fantastic purity and a rich, yet fresh feel. Drink it over the coming year or two. Drink now." – Jeb Dunnuck (Oct 201#)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Plump, caressing creamed melon and apple notes are backed by a lightly honeyed hint on the finish. Forward and friendly. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported." –JM (Feb 2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2010 vintage):
"Potentially outstanding, the 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages comes primarily from Grand Prebois as well as other vineyards in St.-Gervais, especially the Syrah component. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple hue along with deep blackberry and black cherry fruit intertwined with notions of licorice, garrigue and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied with good acidity, freshness and precision, it should drink well for 4-5 years." – Robert Parker (Oct 2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Looking at the reds and also a solid value that delivers ample fruit and texture, the 2012 Famille Perrin Cotes Du Rhone Reserve is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, with the Grenache coming from plots close to the estate and the Syrah from a cooler terroir in Vinsobres. Really showing the Syrah component, with meaty black fruits, chalky minerality, tobacco and herbs, this medium-bodied, rich and textured 2012 has juicy acidity and solid purity of fruit. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years. Drink now-2017." - Jeb Dunnuck (Oct 2013)

Notes from the Winemaker:
Classic Côtes du Rhône. Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, it’s a great everyday wine made almost exclusively from our Grand Prébois vineyards (for the Grenache) and our Vinsobres vineyards (for the Syrah). A beautiful wine you should always have!

Color: beautiful deep ruby color with purple undertones. Nose: Still slightly lactic, the nose has intense notes of red fruit, raspberry jam, spices, black pepper. Mouth: soft and round, structured with freshness.
The vintage :
2012 is a vintage of contrasts with a very mild start of the year and a freezing month of February. A fresh and humid spring, followed by a windy and dry month of July and a very hot month of August. The harvesting conditions were ideal. All these conditions make a great vintage.

Stephen Tanzer:
"Pale orange-pink. High-pitched, spicy red berry aromas are complicated by a hint of succulent herbs. Dry and tightly wound, conveying good energy and lift to its redcurrant and blood orange flavors. Finishes tight and clean, with good energy and stony cut." - Josh Raynolds (March 2015)
