About the Winery:
Aurélian Verdet is an incredibly enthusiastic and driven young vigneron whose father was one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in the early 1970's. Aurélian carried on the tradition following his father's retirement in 2005. His Domaine now comprises holdings in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Vosne Romanée villages, 1er Cru Beaux Monts, 1er Cru Nuits Damodes and Boudots all of which is organically certified. Aurélian's passion is in the vineyards, which are meticulously tended to produce the highest quality fruit. His approach in the cellar is one of minimal intervention with the use of very small amounts of sulphur.

89-91 Points, Outstanding Top Value - Allen Meadow's Burghound:
"Here too there is a lovely perfumed quality to the very fresh red currant and newly turned earth scents where a trace of the sauvage creeps in. I very much like the texture of the medium-bodied and lightly stony flavors that possess very good mid-palate density where once again there is a mild hint of finishing rusticity. This is a particularly good Fixin villages and worth considering." (Jan 15, 2018)

95 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Concentrated and powerful, this wine is rich and full in the mouth, with wonderful ripe fruits over the great tannins. It is solid, dark and dense, full of smoky flavors and a rich strawberry flavor. Drink from 2022." - Roger Voss (12/31/2015)

Our Marsannay 2015 has an intense and shining color. On the nose, notes of red berries and black fruits, such as blackberry and cherry appear. The mouth is round and the tannins are silky. Aromas of undergrowth blend with black currant. A gourmet and fresh wine

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge had not been racked though Jean-Nicolas assured that this cuvée was close to the final blend. It has a pleasant candied bouquet with bright red cherry fruit. The palate is smooth on the entry with simple red cherry and cranberry fruit with a full finish. Enjoy over the next couple of years." - Neal Martin (30th Dec 2015)

89-91 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Reduction and wood toast dominate the nose at present. By contrast there is excellent richness to the full-bodied and suave medium-bodied flavors that tighten up quickly on the balanced, complex and impressively persistent finish. This appears to be the best wine in 2015 range among the Mongeard villages cuvées." - (Jan 15, 2017)

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Here too the wood is moderate but not dominant as it allows the earthy plum and floral-scented nose to be appreciated. There is a beguiling texture to the saline and detailed medium weight flavors that offer good length on the balanced finish but not quite the same overall complexity. Even so this is certainly attractive." - (Jan 15, 2017)

88-90 Points - Allen Meadow's Burghound:
"A subtle but not invisible application of wood frames the spicy aromas of plum, violet and a hint of tea. There is a bit more volume and richness if less evident muscularity to the medium weight, fleshy and caressing flavors that culminate in a highly refreshing and balanced finish. If this can add a bit more depth with a few years of cellaring it should merit the upper end of my projected range." (Jan 15, 2018)

Vineyard placement and geology- The Clos St. Marc is opposite
the domaine on the lower part of the slope. The vines reside in fairly
deep brown soil on a substrate of white and yellow marl, which form the
bedrock. This layer retains water well, which has an important impact on
the expression of terroir in the wine. The Clos St. Marc measure 0.93
ha, and is the smallest monopoly appellation in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2011 vintage):
"An alluring white Marsannay, elegant and intense, with fine harmony and structure. The quince, chamomile, apple and lemon cake flavors are persistent and long. Drink now through 2018." -BS (Dec 15, 2013)
