97 Points - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate:
“Composed of 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French oak, 55% new, for 17 months, the 2015 Canon la Gaffeliere features a deep garnet-purple color and a cedar-laced nose to begin, giving way to fragrant underlying scents of roses and violets with a core of crushed black currants, blackberries and Bing cherries plus hints of fallen leaves and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied, the seductively perfumed red and black fruit fills the mouth, framed with plush tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing very long and minerally.” - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Feb 2018)

96 Points & #2 of Top 100 of 2018 - Wine Spectator Magazine:
Still youthfully tight and backward, with a well-roasted frame of alder and juniper holding sway for now, but the core of cassis, blackberry and plum fruit waits in reserve, showing prodigious depth. When the toast and fruit melds, the backdrop of tobacco, singed iron and chalky minerality will get a turn to show. There's a lot here. Built for the cellar. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2025 through 2040. 6,250 cases made.” –JM (Mar 2018)

Brilliant garnet red in colour with ruby gleams, and aromas of red fruit and red peppers typical of Cabernet Sauvignon accompanied by soft and smooth vanilla and liquorice notes characteristic of very ripe Merlot.
The tannins are agreeable, fine, dense and harmonious. The palate is full-bodied, well-balanced, subtly mixing spices, old rose and cherries.
Serve with casseroles, game or cheeses of character.

87-90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Saturated ruby. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, graphite, bitter chocolate and smoky oak. Juicy, minerally and firmly built, with lively acids leavening its sweetness. But this has excellent flavor intensity, and the dusty tannins avoid dryness." - Stephen Tanzer (May/Jun '07)

Tasting notes:
Nice presentation, intense purple color with deep purple edges around the glass. The nose progressively opens out to evoke leather and undergrowth with hints of coffee, chocolate and crystallized cherry on the palate, a supple attack, developing into harmonious sensations of density and very discernible tannins on the finish. A wine to drink now or to keep 5-10 years.

Light to start with a long finish. Had nice strong tannins that cut through beef & truffle dishes
