"Medium ruby in the glass, the 2017 Pinot Noir Narrow Gauge has a very spicy nose of cinnamon, peppercorn, dried leaves and potpourri with warm black cherries and berries and crushed red cherries. Medium-bodied and silky with loads of spices in the mouth, it has soft, grainy tannins and juicy acidity with a long, layered finish. 515 cases produced." - Erin Brooks (30th Apr 2019)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The ripe 2017 Chardonnay Narrow Gauge has an upfront bouquet of white currants, brioche, honeyed citrus, and spicy wood. Bright and juicy on the palate, with plenty of fruit, it's a richer, nicely balanced, sweetly fruited effort that has loads to love. Drink it over the coming 4-6 years. This cuvée was barrel fermented and spent 15 months in 30% new French oak." - Jeb Dunnuck (6/14/2019)

Notes from the Winemaker:
What pairs best with Memorial Day & 4th of July? For me, the answer is Zinfandel. Although the grape allegedly originated in Croatia, Zinfandel thrives better in California than any place else, period. For that reason, Zinfandel is purely American. If I had to choose only one Zinfandel to serve, it would have to be Gamba. A perennial crowd favorite and proving to be top contenders on California’s Zinfandel scene, Gus Gamba’s old vine Zinfandels are gaining world-wide acclaim. After Robert Parker’s latest visit to the winery, he alerted readers “…Gamba’s name is going to have to be included with some of the stars of Sonoma, such as Hartford Court, Carlisle, Bedrock and even the superstar Turley over in Napa.”

89-91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 vintage):
"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Reserve looks outstanding. There are 15,000 cases of this wine, coming from some of the best sites in the Jackson Sonoma portfolio. It is nearly 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, all emerging from mountain and benchland vineyards. Dense ruby/purple with notes of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, licorice and spice box, this wine should prove to be impressive once it’s bottled and released. " - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Oct 2015)

Note from the winery:
History runs deep at this 17-acre vineyard on Vine Hill Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Back in the 1960s, Sonoma County legend Duff Bevill planted the parcel to the old Clone 4 of Chardonnay. These grapes still grow today, though now the owners are Dennis and Mary Black, and the land is called Black Emerald Vineyard. Because this vineyard is dry-farmed, raising the canopy away from the heat of the ground during the day helps moderate the cluster temperature. At night, this strategy also helps keep clusters dry.

Todd’s Grandpa Ern proudly served during World War II. His job: Bombardier in the U.S. Air Force. With The Bombardier, we honor all who took on responsibilities and jobs during that time. We take inspiration from the many walks of life that followed.

Decadent aromas of sweet pears, melons and candied apples precede a balanced acidity akin to pineapple that freshens the notes of orange marmalade, ripe citrus and tree fruits on the palate. Sweet and sour tones are met in measure with a light caramel beeswax texture and bright notes of Meyer lemon and ripe apples on the finish.

93+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014s are 30-year wines, even in such a supple, easygoing and charming vintage. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana has an opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of graphite, creosote, incense, blackberry and licorice, and maybe a touch of charcoal and earth. The tannins are soft, and there is enormous fruit as well as a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel and some coffee in the finish. It should drink well for 25-30 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Oct 2016)
