Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Super-ripe red cherries, mint, flowers, licorice and French oak are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2009 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Vigneto di Popoli. Flashy and exuberant but well balanced, the 2009 is all about layers of fruit and succulence. The 2009 is a bit forward, but it will provide considerable pleasure if opened over the next few years. It, too, is another fabulous value. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2013)

90(+?) Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2008 vintage):
"Deep purple-ruby. Deep aromas of plum, coffee and dried herbs. Smooth and dense on the palate, with an inky nuance to the plum and herb flavors. With its finishing whiplash of acids and youthfully chewy tannins, this needs time to come together." -Ian D'Agata (Mar/Apr 13)

The 2012 Malandrino represents a turning point at Cataldi Madonna. The goal of this shift is a great wine uncontaminated by oak. The production of this Malandrino is centered around the winery’s historic cement tanks, which have been carefully restored. The result is a sharp and crisp Malandrino which initially shows notes of sour cherry that evolved to ripe, black cherry. On the palate, this wine is quite fresh and dangerously easy to drink while retaining its complexity and flavor. A wine for every meal, Malandrino effortlessly pairs with the Abruzzese cuisine.

92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
“Purple ruby. Initially subdued nose opens with aeration to offer deep, complex aromas of red berries, spicy plum, underbrush and violet. Then fresh rich and spicy, with strawberry and red cherry flavors that are bright and pure. This is at once powerful yet light on its feet, and eludes a cool, clean, debonaire personality on the long suave finish. Another knockout S. Martino Rosso, a deep, complex wine that seems to magically combine elements of Abruzzo, Rioja and Bordeaux. Delicious.” - Ian D’Agata (Jun 2017)
