About This Wine:

Saturated ruby color. This wine has a strikingly aromatic nose that offers a pungent array of fruit, floral and herbal scents. Sweet cherry-vanilla and cola flavors coat the palate and are enlivened by juicy acidity. Supple tannins gain strength on the finish, which strongly repeats the cola and floral qualities. 100% Tempranillo.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Glass-staining ruby.  Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense, rose pastille and Asian spices.  Sappy, penetrating black raspberry and blueberry flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with smoky mineral and star anise nuances gaining strength with air.  Closes sweet and very long, with lingering spiciness and gentle tannins.  Importer Jorge Ordonez told me that lots of high-end oak is used here, from the likes of Taransaud, Darnajou and Dominique Laurent, for example." - Josh Raynolds (Sep '12)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
:
"The 2010 Volver (100% Tempranillo) is a single vineyard, outstanding effort that was aged in French oak for 14 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, pepper, underbrush and licorice. This well-made, medium to full-bodied effort should drink well for 4-5 years." - Robert Parker (Oct 2012)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Hedonist's Gazette (2009 vintage)

“A great value that I would unquestionably drink as a house wine, the 2009 Volver from La Mancha. Made from 50-year old Tempranillo vines, it sells for an astonishing $16-$17 a bottle.” - Robert Parker (May 2011)

90+ Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2009 vintage)
"Bright purple.  Dark berries, cherry pit, licorice and tobacco on the nose.  Slowly unfolds to offer sappy cassis and bitter cherry flavors lifted by tangy acidity and complicated by a peppery, spicy quality.  Finishes gripping and long, with resonating cherry and spice notes.  Give this some aeration or a couple more years of bottle age." - Josh Raynolds (Nov/Oct '11)
