Notes from the Winemaker:
The wine has a deep ruby red color. The nose displays hints of green pepper, licorice and graphite melted with oak vanilla flavors. Full bodied with a ripe fruit palate, LEGIT has the potential to age for a long period of time, which is typical of the Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the Castelnuovo Berardenga Area.

Grapes are first selected during harvest in the vineyard and then by an optical sorter when they arrive at the winery; they are destemmed and the whole berries are immediately put into French oak fermenters. The temperature during fermentation is computer controlled, the must is kept in contact with the skins for about 30 days where manual pigeage and remontage are carried out frequently, throughout the day every 4-6 hours and one delestage is performed per week. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barriques (70% new and 30% used one year). The wine matures for 24 months in barriques (70% new and 30% used one year) and then for 36 months in bottle.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points & #26 Top 100 Wines of 2019 - Wine Spectator:
"This is broad and incisive, delivering black currant, plum, leather, earth and wild herb flavors. Dense and beefy, yet with ample fruit for balance, driven by vibrant acidity. This is starting to mellow but still has years of life ahead. Drink now through 2036. 15,000 cases made, 3,000 cases imported." — BS (Issue Sep 30, 2019)

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Very perfumed on the nose with dried flowers and blackberries. Hints of wet earth. Medium body, fine and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Remains chilled and fine. The label features jazzman Thelonious Monk, to whom this wine is dedicated. Drink now or hold." - 28 Apr, 2019
