Notes from the Winemaker:

Deep and inky in color with vibrant aromas of wild blackberries, crushed rock, smoked meats and spicy oak. Concentrated dark fruit flavors are accented by a savory midpalate and excellent acidity that provides a seamlessly balanced finish.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"A big, bruiser of a Syrah, the 2011 Sequel offers up a full-bodied, decadent and hedonistically styled profile to go with ample black fruits, chocolate cake, smoke and licorice-like aromas and flavors. Thrillingly textured, with solid mid-palate depth and a blockbuster finish, it-s not for the faint of heart, but dishes out loads of pleasure and will drink nicely over the coming decade.

As always, the lineup from Long Shadows is impressive across the board. Their 2011s show surprising richness in the vintage and are certainly standouts." - Jeb Dunnuck (Jun 2014)

93(+?) Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2010 vintage):
"(includes 7% cabernet sauvignon): Good medium ruby. Wild, reduced nose offers blackberry, flinty minerals and game. Dense and vibrant, with highly concentrated yet seamless flavors of blackberry, blueberry, crushed rock and smoked meat. At once creamy and firm, finishing with suave tannins, enticing sweetness and excellent lift and perfume. I would not be surprised if this wine shut down in bottle at some point in the near future. The 2008 Sequel was dumb as a post during a tasting I conducted in Seattle in 2012, then glorious in July of 2013." -Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Dec 13)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2010 vintage):
"This has the excellent acidity to support the ripe, super-concentrated fruit. Dense raspberry, cherry compote, baking spices, cola and licorice all come into play, with a streak of dried tobacco adding further interest." -Paul Gregutt (11/1/2013)

Wine Spectator Magazine (2010 vintage):
"Lean and crisp, with firm tannins around a pulsing core of blueberry and currant fruit, leaning toward pepper and slightly acrid smoke notes as the finish persists. Best from 2014 through 2017. 693 cases made." -HS (Web Only - 2013)
