Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The generic 2013 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast has a medium ruby color that belies very attractive strawberry and cherry fruit, is cleanly made without much evidence of oak, but has lushness and seductiveness as its primary attributes. Drink it over the next 2-3 years." RP Jr. (Mar 2016)

Notes from the Winemaker:
Elegant salmon hue with lifting aromas of strawberry, raspberry, starfruit, rose petal and talc. These layered aromatics highlight the complex palate, driven by orange marmalade countered with a tension of fresh citrus peels precisely balanced by the signature of coastal minerality and defined salinity. Serve chilled.

94 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"This blend from five Beaune Premier Crus was made to celebrate the Potel family's 50 years in wine. It is a richly structured, beautiful wine with its dark tannins and black fruit showing so well. Concentrated from the low yielding old vines, the wine is packed with fruits and acidity that are developing slowly. Drink from 2020." - Roger Voss (12/31/2016)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"Produced from vines over 50 years old, this is a richly fruity and structured wine. It has opulent cherry and strawberry fruits, ripe tannins and an impressive series of tannins both from fruit and wood aging. It needs time, and should not be drunk before 2018." - Roger Voss (6/1/2014)

90-92 Points - Stephen Tanzer (2014 Vintage):
"(40% vendange entier): Dark red-ruby. Distinctly blacker in its fruit character than the last couple of wines, offering scents of blackberry, boysenberry, violet, licorice and spices. Juicy and sharply delineated, showing sneaky intensity and thrust to its dark berry and floral flavors accented by pepper. I might have picked this blind as a Vosne wine owing to its inner-mouth perfume. Tannins are firm but well-integrated, and build with air. Should be a very good ager." - Stephen Tanzer (December 2015)

87-90 Points - Stephen Tanzer (2012 Vintage):
"(vinified with 50% whole clusters): Good dark red. Deep, nuanced nose combines dark berries, licorice and peppery herbs. Juicy and nicely delineated if a bit youthfully tight today. Good straightforward wine." - Stephen Tanzer (January 2014)

95 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2014 Vintage):
"While the color of this wine is light, the intensity and the structure are not. It comes from 30-year-old vines, planted densely that gives the wine huge concentration. It is firm full of tannins that lie over the ripe fruit. As it develops, this wine will be sumptuous, ripe and impressive. Wait until 2023." - Roger Voss (12/31/2016)

Points - James Suckling
Love the nose on this with blackberries, sweet tobacco, blueberries. Full body, with soft and silky tannins and a light jammy finish. Lots of dark fruits. Long finish. Loads going on in this one. Give it three to five years. Or more.

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"An elegant, supple style, featuring cherry, strawberry, floral and subtle tar flavors. The tannins flex their muscles on the finish, but this remains balanced and long, showing fine potential. Best from 2019 through 2033. 600 cases made." - BS (Web Only - 2016)

Garnet ruby color, with intense aromas of black currant, spices, tobacco, tar, nice acidity with big structure, but with finesse and balance.

Aging: before malolactic the wine is moved to Slavonian oak casks for 36 months The wine is held in stainless steel tanks for 2 months before bottling. Unfiltered, unfined.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Antonio Galloni:

"The 2007 Barbaresco Sori Paitin Vecchie Vigne bursts onto the palate with explosive fruit and tons of depth. It is a rich opulent Barbaresco, but there appears to be plenty of underlying structure. Crushed flowers, spices, licorice, anise and tar are some of the notes that wrap around the intense, plush finish. Today the 2007 shows the exuberance of the year, but with further bottle age the more subtle aspects of the wine will emerge." - Antonio Galloni (October 2011)

93 Points - Stephen Tanzer:
"(bottled in August of 2011): Healthy medium red. Lovely high-pitched aromas of red cherry, rose petal, mint, minerals and blood orange make the 2008 version seem a bit flat on the nose. Suave, rich and generous but not thick, with terrific intensity and noteworthy complexity to its flavors of red fruits, spices, mint, earth and game. Nicely delineated wine thanks to harmonious acidity. Finishes with serious but ripe tannins that reach the incisors and a lingering spice character. (The tasting notes I offered on this wine two years ago suggested it was already in bottle, which of course was not the case. I liked the wine then, and it has turned out very well.)" - Stephen Tanzer (November 2011)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
Starts out rich and round, boasting cherry and currant flavors, then firms up as more spice and eucalyptus notes show. The tannins offer grip as this cruises to a long finish. Balances power and elegance. Best from 2014 through 2028. 333 cases made." - BS (Apr 30, 2012)
