Winemaker:

Agricola Centolani is a world-famous wine estate located in the heart of Montalcino, one of the most evocative villages in legendary Tuscany. Brunello di Montalcino, one of the worldÕs top wines, grows here in the Siena area, amid Valle dÕArbiaÕs stark landscape and Valle dÕOrciaÕs wild, sunny stretches. The Peluso Centolani family owns the homonymous company and possesses two major wine estates in Montalcino: Tenuta Friggiali, with cellars and offices, and Tenuta Pietranera, whose vineyards, olive groves, arable land and woods cover approximately 200 hectares.

Color:
Intense ruby-red,with a tendency to garnet-red with the ageing
Perfume: Round,intense well-balanced,with a long finish
Taste: Complex,elegant,full-bodied,velvety

Couplings: Red meat and game, matured cheeses and complex dishes

Fermentation method: Grapes are picked from the bunch and softly squeezed; the maceration takes place in stainless steel vats for a period of 25 days with repeated wine-pressings and delestages. During this phase the alcoholic fermentation is completed and controlled at a temperature of 28-30 ¡C.

Maturing method: After the fermentation method has been completed, the wine spends 24-30 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 50 hectolitres. It is then aged for another 6 months in stainless steel vats, and at least 12 months in the bottles before being put on the market,at the beginning of the fifth year after the harvest.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Beautiful aromas of plums and chocolate powder. Medium to full body, silky and fine tannins. Tight and structured. Very pretty and long. This will improve beautifully with age." - (November 30, 2016)

Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Dark berry, pipe tobacco and baking spice aromas come together in this taut red. It's linear and straightforward, with sour cherry, cranberry and star anise flavors. Firm tannins and bright acidity provide support Drink 2019Ð2024." - Kerin O'Keefe (4/1/2017)

Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Good medium dark red. Deep and spicy on the nose with scents of red berries and dark plum. Becomes increasingly spicy and brisk with air, picking up a complicating mineral tang to the dark fruit flavours, but at the same time also turns very austere and tough. Finishes with substantial, gritty tannins that coat the mouth dry." - Ian D'Agata (Mar 2017)
