Notes from the Winemaker:
Very youthful, assertive dark cherry, raspberry and tart plum aromas are complimented by notes of potpourri, anise, tar, smoke and black pepper, along with balanced oak and alcohol. Beautifully structured on the palate, this wine is medium bodied, with bright, pristine flavors that mirror the nose augmented by hints of dark earth. The medium to medium plus acidity and long finish of this wine confirm its exciting cellaring potential.
2014’s mild winter and warmer spring led to bud break in early March. In our mountain microclimate, May is our flowering month and developmentally most critical. Warmer than normal temps during May helped coax an exceptional fruit set, our best yet. Moderate temperatures, with only minimal late season rain, allowed for even ripening and optimum fruit maturity. At 3AM on August 15 th, under the glow of LED headlamps, our Pinot Noir harvest commenced. Fruit was picked straight to refrigerated transport and immediately whisked to St. Helena for processing

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"The 2015 Pinot Noir is fabulous. The decision to use 50% whole clusters, almost by necessity in 2015, resulted in a Pinot that is both rich in fruit and also aromatically lifted, not to mention also quite a bit more expressive of this site and the Santa Cruz Mountains more broadly. Deep and plush, as the wines from this site can be, but not at all heavy, Mindego Ridge's 2015 Pinot Noir is a total knock out. The saline-infused finish offers a compelling counter to the intense, pliant fruit. The whole clusters are very nicely integrated, even at this early stage. Quite simply, the 2015 Pinot is fabulous. Don't miss it." - Antonio Galloni (Aug 2017)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The estate’s 2015 Pinot Noir is also a beautiful, fruit-driven effort that shines for its texture and balance. Wild strawberries, cassis, licorice and spice aromas and flavors all emerge from this richly textured, round, supple beauty that's going to put a smile on your face over the coming 7-10 years. This cuvee was made with 50% stems, aged 11 months in 25% new French oak (the balance in neutral oak) and was bottled unfined and unfiltered." - Jeb Dunnuck (8/24/2017)
