Notes from the Winemaker:

Bouquet of crme de cassis, black licorice and lifted black fruit jump from the glass. Complex touches of mint, cedar and loamy soil. Rose petals and cigar boxes. Bittersweet chocolate. Fresh red fruit and blackberry. Chewy and dense sweet black fruit, toasty hints and earthy notes on the palate. Supple, dusty tannins act to softly bring the wine to a crescendo of flavor and texture and lead to a lengthy finish reminiscent of fresh blackberries. An elegant and soft wine that surprises with its complexity and power.

Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Despite having been bottled a year ago, the 2014 El Desafio de Jonata is still very closed. Dark, dense and brooding, the 2014 is going to need at least a few years to unwind. The tannins are quite powerful, while the aromatics are reticent, both of which suggest readers will have to be patient." - Antonio Galloni (Sep 2017)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Made from a classic northern Medoc blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (93%) and Blended of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon,13% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2014 El Desafio de Jonata has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and notes of red and black currants, pencil shavings and cloves with a dried herbs and earthy background. Firm, chewy, taut and tense in the medium-bodied mouth, it appears a little sinewy at this youthful stage with some pleasant, persistent herbal notes on the finish." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Sep 2017)
