This is a very exciting time for connoisseurs of fine Italian wines. Fans of Tuscany have seen huge ratings and sought-after releases from great 2006 Brunello di Montalcino vintage. For the fans of Piedmont, the 2007 Barolo vintage is also going down in history as "greatness in the making" for Barolo and other Nebbiolo-based wines. Below are excerpts from articles written by professional wine publications Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling, both elaborating on this excellent Barolo vintage.

2007 Barolo: Greatness in the Making

By Antonio Gallolini, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Feb. 2011)

The 2007 Baroli are some of the most viscerally thrilling young wines I have ever tasted. The 2007s are similar to the 2004s, but with more substance. The wines are radiant, intensely perfumed and totally seductive, yet not at all heavy, in a style that offers the textural richness of a warm vintage with the aromatics of a cool year. In 2006 and 2007 readers will find the finest back to back Barolo vintages since 1989 and 1990...

Tasting Report: 2007 Barolo

By James Suckling (former Senior Editor of Wine Spectator) (May 2011)

The 2007 vintage certainly is pleasing; sexy would be another way of describing it. The Nebbiolos from 2007 give so much pleasure already but they are balanced with a gorgeous backbone of tannins as well as opulent fruit. I like to think of them as a mixture of the fruit-forward 2000s with the firm and bright 2001s. The vintage is clearly better than 2006 - a rather lean year.

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"With a light and luminous ruby color, this wine shows the typical appearance of Nebbiolo. The 2012 Laboro Disobedient is a terrific wine that plays forward with beautiful elegance and grace. It is lean and compact in presentation, but the aromatic intensity far outpaces its subtle visual impact. Soft cherry and wild berry aromas are backed by licorice, tar and grilled herb. This vintage is drinking beautifully at the moment, but it will certainly hold longer." - Monica Larner (27th Apr 2018)
